A warm welcome and supportive environment for all our traders is key to the BIG Newquay Market and it's partners so we are here for any of your questions. However we would so appreciate it if you could check all the info on this page and the general terms to see if your answer is there before contacting us.
Arrival & Set Up:
-
The Market is open from 10am-4pm.
-
For August, this Market is taking place overlooking the sea on the grass at the Killacourt ONLY (this month there will be no stands on Bank Street).
-
Vehicle unload access is generally within 100 metres from stand location.
-
You can arrive between 8.15 - 9.15am ready for opening at 10am, please do not arrive before or after this time.
-
All vehicles must be moved to local car parks at least 30 minutes before Market open. All traders must focus on unloading their stock to their stand and then move their vehicle to a local car park before merchandising.
-
There are lots of central car parks but the closest larger car parks are Manor and Mount Wise, and also St Georges for Bank Street. Further information about the council car parks in the area can be found at CORNWALL COUNCIL NEWQUAY PARKING - Please note that the JustPark Wallet & App offers you a way of getting significantly reduced rates on parking in council car parks. Find out if this could be a good option for you at CORNWALL COUNCIL JUSTPARK.
-
If you are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances please call on the on the day contact number provided.
-
The best unload points vary depending on your stand location. Please view the plan and table below to identify your stand location. The table lists your biz name (A-Z), stand type with any table or elec allocation and your stand location detailed as a NUMBER correlating to the stand numbers on the plan.
-
Please note that your stand location is not guaranteed as changes can occur right up to the last minute and you may be moved on arrival.
-
Using your stand location you can determine your preferred unload access point as marked on the plan below. Please ensure you follow the guidance for the relevant unload access point.
-
If it's your first time attending the Market or you are unsure of where to pull up for unload don't worry, A Market representative, will be on hand to guide you.
-
Unload can be very busy so it might not be possible to unload as close to your stand as you would like to when you arrive and you may need to move your vehicle during unload so please be be flexible. A Market representative, will be on hand to guide you.
-
Please bear in mind that access and exit points may be narrower than expected due to the siting of temporary structures or other vehicles. Please be sure of the safety of yourself, others, your vehicle, other vehicles, temporary structures, weights and street furniture before manoeuvring your vehicle. A Market representative, will be on hand to guide you if you are unsure.

KILLACOURT:
-
Unload access point 1 - staffed:
-
Approach Trebarwith Crescent by coming down Marcus Hill via Mountwise and taking a very short right then immediate left (it's almost straight ahead) onto Trebarwith Crescent. Pull up at the right hand side of the highway next to the Killacourt at Trebarwith Crescent. You will need to promptly unload your stock to your stand position by foot (you can use your own sack trolleys and wheelbarrows) and then promptly move your vehicle before merchandising your stand. To exit, continue along Trebarwith Crescent, turn right up Bridge Road and then to turn left onto East Street before heading to local parking.
-
Unload access point 2* (generally only suitable for a brief pull up):
-
Enter via the one way system at Crantock Street (past the cinema) and follow the road round to the left along Central Square. Take a right down Beach Road and then a right onto The Crescent. We don't recommend this unload access point for anything more than a quick pull up as is unlikely you will be able to park for unload and can potentially block ongoing traffic as the side of the road parking is usually full. This unload point is not staffed. To exit head to the top of The Crescent and turn left onto the (non closed) section of Bank Street which leads into East Street before heading to local parking.
-
Your Stand:
-
Stands all have a 3 metre frontage by 2 metre depth in a heavy duty, pre-set up and secured / weighted gazebo. Some gazebos are arranged in a terraced block and where this is the case sides will only be used on the end of a gazebo run. Some gazebos are arranged back-to-back with another gazebo and where this is the case backs won't be used.
-
At application you agreed to certain terms including specifics on your stand layout, presentation, professionalism and safety. If you need to please revisit the full TERMS.
-
Where selected on your application form you will be supplied with a table (circa 180 x 60cm). Please view the table below to view your stand type including table allocation. If you are using a table please bring an adequate table covering with enough length to obscure under the table from the front, particularly if you are using it for storage. Chairs are not supplied so if you want a perch (recommended!) please bring your own bearing in mind the stand space available.
-
Access to on stand electricity is not generally included unless it was requested on your application (charge applies). If you have on stand electricity access it will be detailed on the table below. If you have on stand electricity access please note that the supply is limited so is only suitable for lighting and small load devices such as payment devices / phones - anything that does not fall into these categories must be cleared with us prior to the event. All electrical items being plugged in must have a PAT test or be under 1 year old with proof of dated receipt. You will be supplied with access to single standard 13amp electric point - you will need to bring an extension lead and multi sockets with you as required. Please bear in mind that the exact location of the socket within your stand area is not guaranteed so please bring a 5 metre plus extension lead. Please also ensure that plug in points are protected from the elements and electric cables are secured down.
-
Where essential there will be access to a personal or payment device charge point behind the scenes. Please arrive with fully charged devices and consider bringing a device power pack. All electrical items being plugged in must have a PAT test or be under 1 year old with proof of dated receipt.
-
Please consider the weather forecast when planning your stand. There are a few simple things you can do to keep things stress free if we have some rain or the wind picks up.
-
Back weights or table clamps can work well to stabilise product stands in a breeze. F clamps can work particularly well as they will work for a wider range of table thicknesses.
-
If your stock itself is light then consider how you might fix it to your stand or display. White tac can be a simple but valuable addition to your Market kit.
-
If rain is forecast it's worth setting up further back under the gazebo rather than pushing your display right to the front. Finally a clear waterproof cover can work well to pop over things if there's a shower. Depending on the nature of your stock you might choose a more rigid clear PVC cover or a more flexible plastic dust sheet. Pegs can be useful to clip these into place.
-
Please also dress for the weather, it's so important to be comfortable and safe. It can be very chilly or very warm.
-
-
You can find further information about the weather conditions that might mean the Market is cancelled, along with the process, over in the full TERMS.
-
There are lots of options for food and drink in the area including some stands at the Market and at local businesses but it's always worth bringing plenty of water.
Close Down & Departure:
-
No stock is to be packed away before 4pm (or close time where later) on Market days unless agreed by an official Market representative.
-
Take down will follow the same process and rules as above.
-
Traders are responsible for removing ALL waste that their activities generate. This includes all food waste, packaging, unsold stock etc. Refuse and recycling must be taken with you and not placed in any of the public bins.
