Hello! So you're interested in being a part of the curated Cornwall Shop Small Directory & becoming a Community member? That's wonderful! Before you apply please read this so you can find out more about being listed, what we're looking for, what it costs and some other need to know info. It's a bit wordy but grab a cuppa and settle in for a 5-10 minute read - you have to accept the info & terms before you can apply.

The Cornwall Shop Small Directory Concept:
The Directory is an online guide to the county's (and just across the border) most wonderful creators & curators of Contemporary Craft, Art & Design, Home & Lifestyle wares, Vintage finds and local Food & Drink. It's an inspiration destination where people can discover the unique & beautiful, find out more and head off site to shop and get social all while supporting small & local businesses. Everyone who is listed in the Directory also becomes a Cornwall Shop Small Community member.

Not everyone who applies will be invited to join the Directory. The Directory is heavily curated to ensure it provides a something unique and special. You might not be offered a listing if it's not felt that we're the right fit for each other, context is crucial. Category competition is also taken into account to ensure the Directory is balanced. If there is someone listed who provides a niche product or service similar to yours it is unlikely that you will be invited to join. This doesn't mean that multiple e.g. jewellers or ceramicists won't be listed. If an application is a great fit and offers something different in tone and style then they are very welcome.

What's Included:

Your listing in the online Directory through to end of January 2024 when there will be a renewal option.

Your listing will include your business name, a business intro, 3 product / brand promo photos, a link to your main shopping site (this can be your website, your partner sales site e.g. Etsy or Folksy or to a social profile if that's how you sell online), an additional trader photo with personal intro, location (by closest town) and a link to your primary social profile.

Your listing will appear in the Directory A-Z and all relevant categories listed on the application form, successful applicants can also suggest new categories that will be considered.

Across 2022 the old Duchy Fairs, less content rich website had over 6,200 unique visitors, it didn't include a Directory.

Opportunity to update relevant content if you rebrand or launch a new website / shopping platform / social account at any time via email. In September there will be a formal opportunity to update any elements of your listing.

Associated promotion including:

Press releases at key times during the year.

1+ monthly database emailer (over 2,100 subscribers) including a Directory feature and call to action.

2+ monthly social media support (over 7,300 followers) featuring a selection from the Directory and call to action.

You'll also get a digital Directory badge with A5 Directory QR code sign for display at events.

Priority or exclusive member access to all bookable activities on the Trader Hub where bookings open from March, current bookable sessions are already live. These will include all sorts of helpful things like social media & website clinics, product & brand photography, finance & insurance support and lots more, all delivered by experts in the area. By coming together we get a focused service and a great deal, for example a recent first aid at work course came with a discount of almost 20%.

There are plans for a printed version of the Directory to come out early Autumn in time for the festive season. This will be an opt in cost covering additional charges with no standard advertising space. It will be available at all Cornwall Shop Small events and at partner events & locations. More info coming!

There are lots more plans for the Directory including more categories (e.g. retail / wholesale) and targeted communications (e.g. to retailers) along with support to get you wholesale ready if you're not already there.

Directory Prices:
​
The standard charge for being listed in the Directory will be £2 a month but is currently offered at £1.50 a month running through to the end of January 2024, so a full year is £18. If you join later in the year the charge is pro rata - so from October it's £6 for the remainder of the year etc. unless otherwise stated.
​
Directory prices are as accessible as possible so the Directory is curated creatively and not led by affordability. The charge mainly covers the backend set up with a margin going towards ongoing promotion costs.

Directory Application Process:
​
Applications will open and close on very limited and set dates throughout the year. Outside of this new-to-Market traders will be given the opportunity to join from the month when they first appear at Market.
​
Successful applicants and invited new-to-Market traders will be requested to make payment for their sign up and their listing will not go live until payment has been made.
